Nigel will need more than a butterfly net and a jam jar to catch these creepie crawlies. Three hundred million years ago, insects in the Carboniferous period were truly enormous. Scorpions were three foot long, millipedes eight and there were dragonflies the size of hawks. And yet the air that we breathe today would kill them all. Just to return with them Nigel must design and build a special box that gives the insects a far higher oxygen content than we have in the atmosphere today. Bringing them back, though, is only half the journey.
