Serial killer Ivan Milat grew up in Australia as one of 14 siblings in an isolated, close-knit family. They were surrounded by guns, and abided by an ethos of lawlessness and unbreakable family loyalty. Milat is now serving life for the murders of seven hitchhiking backpackers between 1989 and 1992. Dubbed the Backpack Killer, Ivan Milat is Australia's worst solo serial killer. It could be worse – Ivan Milat’s brother Boris spoke out in 2005 claiming it’s likely there are more victims that haven’t yet been found. He said in an interview: “Wherever Ivan has worked, people have disappeared.” This documentary explores Ivan Milat’s background and examines his motivation for killing so many people.
