When Jim London’s Aunt Minnie leaves him her little terraced house at the Elephant & Castle, he thinks he’s got it made. Safely ensconced in his newly acquired castle, Jim’s plans largely involve entertaining as many ‘dolly birds’ as he can. Unfortunately he soon learns that owning your own castle doesn’t guarantee privacy. His front door is constantly under assault from his eccentric neighbours, mates looking for somewhere to stay and other uninvited guests, including the DHSS. Consequently Jim is always getting into some sort of scrape. Up the Elephant and Round the Castle was a popular ‘80s sitcom that starred Jim Davidson, Sue Nicholls and John Bardon. Also seen along the way were Anita Dobson (who later played Angie Watts in EastEnders), Christopher Ellison (The Bill) and Linda Robson (Birds of a Feather).
