This ’80s British sitcom stars Jim Davidson as a cockney bachelor, on the dole and spending his time drinking, chasing women and tangling with the police – who fortunately for him are not all that bright. Jim has inherited 17 Railway Terrace from his Aunt Minnie, with the only downside being the sitting tenant upstairs. That is, apart from the horrendous neighbour Councillor Bertram Allnut. Oh, and the predatory and not particularly attractive Vera Spiggott. And not forgetting Wanda Pickles, who is constantly barging in to pursue a quickie on the sofa – something that Jim is reluctant to accede to, since Wanda’s husband is in maximum security at Parkhurst. Then there are the dodgy mates, the nosy DHSS, and the visits from Jim’s dad, looking for sanctuary from Jim’s mum. So actually, there are a few downsides.
