British '70s sitcom starring Jack Smethurst, Rudolph Walker, Nina Baden-Semper and Kate Williams. Eddie Booth is a patriot and a socialist living with wife Joan in Maple Terrace and drinking down the Lion and Lamb with his mates. Suddenly new neighbours move in next door. Bill and Barbie are Afro-Caribbean and Bill is in the habit of voting Conservative. The name-calling begins immediately, though only between the men. Their wives (who are both pregnant) get along perfectly well. In the penultimate episode of series four, Eddie is taking no risks when it comes to getting Joan safely to the maternity hospital when the big moment arrives. He has borrowed a car and knows the route backwards, so nothing can possibly go wrong. What do you know? Somehow it does.
