Saiyuki – Episode 3

Based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, the anime adventure continues. The quartet – the monk Sanzo, the monkey-king Goku and the demons Gojyo and Hakkai – visit a huge temple on a rocky mountain, where they meet a young monk named Yo, who is Sanzo’s biggest fan. He says that Buddha protects them from demons and prohibits killing. All the monks and apprentices live a strict life of studying the sacred scrolls and purifying their souls under three principles: no drinking, no smoking, and all tangible things are vain. The monks are surprised to see Sanzo partaking of all of these forbidden things. Then, assassins sent by the evil monster Kogaiji attack the temple. It’s up to our heroes to save the monks from the assassins.
