Long ago, during the ancient Three Kingdoms era of dynastic China, great and terrible warriors battled for control of the land. In the district of Kanto, 1,800 years later, the same struggle plays out among high-kicking high school fighter. The warriors’ spirits have passed down through the centuries in mystical jewels, magamata. In a Japanese anime series loosely based on Yuji Shiozaki’s cult manga, a young girl called Hakufu, whose destiny is to unite all the struggling factions, enters the fray. On her arrival at the Nanyo High School she immediately bids to prove her worth by taking on the school’s most powerful fighters in martial arts battles of supreme athleticism and skill. Can this young girl, with the help of her cousin Shuyu, defeat the best her new school has to offer?
