Poltergeist

This spooky classic was produced, written and, unofficially, even directed by Steven Spielberg, although horror director Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) takes the screen credit. An ordinary suburban family is thrown into turmoil when their youngest daughter Carol Anne (Heather O’Rourke) connects with supernatural entities through the white noise on their TV. The visitors seem benign at first, playing seemingly harmless tricks and moving objects around. But things take a sinister turn when the visitations become increasingly violent and Carol Anne is abducted through her bedroom closet, which appears to be a portal to a spectral plane. The distressed family turns to parapsychologist Dr Lesh and professional exorcist Tangina for help and it’s not long before they learn the horrifying secret of their family home.
