Superman 2

This superhero sequel is a fascinating follow-up to 1978’s Superman as the quota of spectacular action is well and truly upped through the introduction of three ruthless super-villains. Three criminals from the planet Krypton (imprisoned in the Phantom Zone by Superman’s father Jor-El) have escaped and are intent on using their new-found powers to exact revenge on Kal-El (Christopher Reeve) and ultimately take over the world. Meanwhile, Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) discovers Superman’s secret identity and Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) is sprung from jail before teaming up with the trio of bad guys. Superman II’s thrills come in no small part from the superb performances of the three super-villains led by their ruthless and sneering leader General Zod, played with convincing malice by Terence Stamp.
