The Green Mile

This moving prison drama from The Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont, starsTom Hanks as a prison guard working on death row in the 1930s. He’s a jaded figure who, with his colleagues Brutus Howell (David Morse) and Percy Wetmore (Doug Hutchison), has been worn down by the procession of doomed souls passing through his jail. But things change with the arrival of John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), an eight foot tall walking contradiction who is accused of murdering two children, can’t sleep with the lights off, and appears to have the power of faith healing. As the mysterious and miraculous events unfold, the guard and the convict strike up a touching friendship and the truth is gradually revealed.
