Zodiac

Based on real events, this thriller is the most mature film yet from Fight Club director David Fincher. In the 1970s, a serial killer in San Fransisco taunted police by sending cryptic letters to local newpapers. Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Inspector David Toschi (Mark Rufallo) were a reporter and policeman whose interest with the case became and overriding obsession. The fact that the Zodiac killer was never caught and that he killed over such a long time frame gives the film an almost documentary feeling, yet Fincher manages to sustain interest throughout with compelling characterisations.
