Any romantic comedy that stars Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore and is directed by the screenwriter behind many of Sandra Bullock’s hits is a sure-fire way to have a romantic night in. Grant plays Alex, a Simon le Bon style pop star from the 80s who’s never had a hit since. So when the latest princess of pop demands a guaranteed hit tune from him, he leaps at the chance, despite the fact that he’s great at melodies but rubbish at words. Thankfully, his plant lady Sophie has a knack for a catchy phrase or two so Alex press gangs her into service and it’s not long before the duo are making sweet music in every conceivable way.
