Follow the rocky road to small screen fame in this second hilarious season of Extras. Written, directed by and starring Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, we see Andy (Gervais) starring in his own TV sitcom while best friend Maggie (Ashley Jensen) continues as a movie extra. Andy’s show When the Whistle Blows is savaged by critics, loved by fans and hated by Andy, who feels like he’s sold out, especially after David Bowie taunts him with a song. As a bemused Maggie shrugs off amorous advances from Orlando Bloom and Daniel Radcliffe, Andy gets banned from the BAFTAs for doing drugs with Ronnie Corbett and hangs out with Jonathan Ross. Meanwhile, Andy’s useless agent Darren (Merchant) amuses Robert de Niro with a novelty nudie strip pen. For humour with a serious cringe factor, look no further than Extras.
