The Goonies

Directed by Superman’s Richard Donner from a story written by Steven Spielberg, The Goonies is a classic kids’ action adventure that follows the lives of Mikey and Brandon Walsh and their gang of friends. Mikey and Brandon are being forced out of their home by developers and all looks lost until they discover a map revealing the location of the treasure of legendary pirate One-eyed Willy. The gang sets out to explore an underground maze of tunnels and traps. On the way they meet a deformed giant name Sloth and are pursued by the criminal members of Momma Fratelli’s gang, who are also seeking the treasure. It’s a magical adventure with great turns from the young cast. Look out for a young Sean Astin too. Later, he’d play Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings.
