Poseidon

Watery action movie from Wolfgang Petersen, the director who’s already made waves with WW2 submarine drama Das Boot and The Perfect Storm, starring George Clooney. This time round, he’s remade the classic 70s disaster movie, The Poseidon Adventure, gathering an eclectic cast including Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss, Kevin Dillon and even Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas. It’s New Year’s Eve and as 2,000 passengers and crew celebrate on the giant cruise ship Poseidon, a freak wave rolls it over. A few hundred dazed survivors find themselves in an upside-down world where they must climb up to the “bottom” decks if they’ve any chance of rescue. With the “upper” decks flooding one by one, it’s a frantic race against time.
